Multi-material food packaging company, LINPAC Packaging, is offering customers the ultimate solution in sustainability and performance for fresh meat packaging by combining eco-efficiency with premium design.
The offer of the new Rfresh® MB tray for meat and fish, combined with the LINtop Star range of lidding films, reflects the company’s efforts to provide customers with complete packaging solutions as part of its Fresh Thinking innovation strategy which was launched in 2011.
Jo Stephenson, Vice-President of Innovation and Marketing at LINPAC Packaging, said: “Our aim is for customers to recognise us as a company which can cater for all their packaging needs. We manufacture both trays and film and can offer total pack solutions.
“We want our customers to recognise that LINPAC Packaging is not just a tray manufacturer or a film manufacturer but that we can offer both together and in fact, when a customer uses a one of our trays with a compatible LINPAC film product performance is enhanced significantly. We have excellent sales, technical and customer service teams across Europe who can advise on the benefits of various tray and film combinations and which will work best together for their specific needs.”
The Rfresh MB trays are made from rPET and contain up to 95% food grade post-consumer recyclate which goes through LINPAC Packaging’s special food grade “super cleaning” on site technology and sees the company not only meeting but exceeding food safety regulations. The trays offer excellent barrier performance helping retailers reduce spoilage and waste by keeping food fresher for longer. A PP or PE base film layer provides for stronger seal integrity and the trays’ rigidity ensures that the product reaches the consumer in the best possible condition.
The launch of the new LINtop Star films signals a new generation of high barrier shrink lidding films to be manufactured by the company. When used in conjunction with Rfresh MB trays customers have an optimized packaging solution with superior environmental attributes.
The high barrier films for MAP are made with the lowest gauge required in the industry helping customers reduce their carbon footprint. They have been designed with outstanding optics, controlled shrink and superior anti-fog properties, giving high quality product presentation and protection to appeal to retailers. The excellent oxygen barrier performance extends product shelf life, helping both retailers and consumers reduce food waste and spoilage – an increasing concern across the market place as food prices and consumer environmental concerns increase.
Using the correct MAP conditions, the shelf life of fresh poultry can typically be increased from around four to six days to between eight and 14 days under refrigeration, while that of red meat can increase from two to four days to between eight and 12 days, depending on pack design.
Ms Stephenson added: “Through significant creative design investment and advanced engineering skills, LINPAC Packaging is manufacturing fit-for-purpose trays and films which make optimum use of raw materials. By offering Rfresh MB and our LINtop Star range of films together, our customers can feel absolutely confident that they are getting a complete premium packaging solution which offers high standards of product presentation, protection and environmental credentials.”
