LINPAC team up with IFST to host Fresh! conference

You are here

LINPAC Packaging is to host one of its renowned Fresh! conferences in conjunction with the Institute of Food Science and Technology.

The event will address the ever changing demands of food packaging, including how to best reduce, recycle and reuse packaging, and legislation behind packaging waste. Speakers will also present on topics including packaging innovation, customer expectations of packaging and the role packaging plays in protecting, preserving and presenting food.

Joanna Stephenson, Vice President Marketing and Innovation at LINPAC Packaging, said: “Packaging plays a crucial role in the minimisation of food waste and the sale of food through its ability to attract customers to make initial and repeat purchases of food items. As a result, businesses have to respond to the global competition, changing populations and changing consumer behaviours that present a real challenge to the food industry. This conference focuses on these key ideas through its impressive line-up of experts from industry and academic institutions.”

The conference is being held at Eastwood Park Conference Centre in Gloucestershire on June 13 and is open to IFST members and food professionals responsible for producing safe food, retail and food industry directors and managers, Local Authority Environment Agency and Trading Standards representatives, factory managers, food hygiene specialists, packaging and waste managers.

Speakers include Joanna Stephenson and her colleague Alan Davey, Director of Innovation at LINPAC Packaging, Paul Hunt from Sun Chemical, providers of pigments, inks and coatings to the print, cosmetics and textile industries, Jane Bickerstaffe from INCPEN the (Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment), Andrew Revel from Faraday, Leeds, a knowledge and research hub attached to Leeds University, Professor James Bradley, plasma research specialist from The University of Liverpool, and Mark Roberts, Technical Sales Director from Regain Polymers, one of the UK’s leading plastic recycling companies.

There will also be a small exhibition from companies presenting products and services.

The Institute of Food Science and Technology is the leading independent qualifying body for food professionals in Europe and the only professional body in the UK concerned with all aspects of food science and technology. Members are drawn from all over the world from all backgrounds including industry, universities and schools, government, research and development, quality assurance and food law enforcement.
