LINPAC Packaging has UK’s best fish and chips all wrapped up

You are here

The fish and chip shop crowned the best in the UK serves up its award-winning fare in HOTpacs made by LINPAC Packaging.

Bridlington-based Fish and Chips at 149, which was named Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year at the prestigious National Fish and Chip Awards, gets through more than 1,000 HOTpacs each week.

As well as being used by the award-winner, HOTpacs and catering trays manufactured by LINPAC Packaging are used by a further six of the ten finalists, including the two runners-up, Peck-Ish in Cornwall, and Seniors at Marsh Hill in Thornton, Lancashire.

Matthew Silk, joint owner of Fish and Chips at 149, said: “LINPAC’s products are excellent quality, reasonably priced and easy to use. We are conscious of keeping our wrapping and packaging materials to a minimum and LINPAC’s HOTpacs and catering trays help us to achieve this. They really work for us and meet our needs for serving up our fish and chips.”

The FC range of HOTpacs, manufactured in the UK by LINPAC Packaging, which sponsored the awards, offers the ideal packaging solution for fish and chip shop owners. Manufactured from EPS, they have been designed to keep contents warm and its unique air flow technology helps prevent fish and chips going soggy or sticking to the box, meaning customers enjoy the same quality food as they bought on site.

HOTpacs are also the lowest carbon footprint packaging option available for fish and chip show owners, and do not produce any greenhouse gasses if they are disposed of in landfill. Additionally, the energy consumption used in their manufacture can be recovered through incineration.

David Marshall, UK sales manager, said: “Fish and chips are our national dish, and consumers demand the very best from their local shop. We have been working with the fish and chip shop industry for more than 40 years and are committed to helping fish and chip shop owners meet their customers’ demands with the most economical, environmentally friendly packaging option available on the market today.

“To know that seven of the finalists use our products to serve their fish and chips in is testament to the excellent quality and standards of LINPAC Packaging’s products.”

The National Fish and Chip Awards – which are organised by Seafish, a government body which seeks to promote good quality, sustainable seafood - serve as a showcase for excellence within the industry, which is constantly evolving to meet consumer demands. The awards focus on taste and also recognise sustainability issues, species choice, staff training and development, promotional excellence, quality standards and innovation.
