Featherstone Rovers Foundation, which is supported by LINPAC, has announced that the debut evening of the Rovers Play Touch Rugby League kicked off with a flying start with 70 players turning up on the first night.
Play touch Rugby League is a great way to get fit, burn calories and build muscle tone... without having to go the gym, so if your new year’s resolution has gone into touch why not try Play Touch Rugby League with the Rovers?
Speaking on the success of the night Head of Community Development Laurabeth Jaggar said: “I am so proud of the amount of teams turning up to play, last night was the friendly rounds so the competition starts next week. It was really great to see both experienced and new players interacting and there was a real buzz about the night with all players in great spirits.”
Dane Weatherill, coordinator of the programme, said: “Touch Rugby League incorporates all the fun stuff that makes the game great... like speed, skill and action... without the ‘ouch’ factor of the traditional format... because there’s minimal contact – you literally ‘touch’ to tackle and the best thing is, anyone can play over the age of 14 – friends, family, workmates!”
The good news is you can still sign up and join Fev next week at big Fella Stadium 6.30pm – 8.30pm. It’s £3 per person and really anyone can play.
Featherstone Rovers Foundation would like to thank the teams that turned up, Rasta’s Rockets, New Fev Warriors, Ponti Rhubarb, Boot Room Tigers, Fevolution, Inbetweeners, knockons and the 5 Towns Tigers.
